Alexis Bondaroff was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, in a health-focused and holistic home. This progressive upbringing instilled in her a passion for healthy living - in particular for wholesome eating.
Alexis studied Food and Healing at New York's The Natural Gourmet Institute. From 1997-2000 she was the founder and proprietor of Organica, the much-loved organic juice bar and vegan restaurant in Park Slope. Since then, Alexis has worked as a private chef and caterer, successfully creating every type of meal and for every type of event imaginable: from casual dinner parties to cocktail parties to black-tie events for 1,000 people.
Alexis trained in the Japanese martial art of Aikido for many years, eventually being promoted to Shodan. Her Aikido training took her all over Europe, Asia and South America. These experiences abroad have informed and enhanced her culinary practice, allowing her to not only create authentic cultural dishes from around the world, but also add exotic and creative touches to even the most traditional recipes.
